“What McCain has done with Governor Palin’s nomination is aim right at a demographic that Obama needs to address quickly: non-college-educated women,” said Mike McCurry, a former spokesman in the Clinton White House. “They need to maximize Biden’s ability to reach out to them, but at the end of the day, it is Obama who has to get that very, very critical group...”Sen. Barack Obama will lean on prominent Democratic women to chip away at Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. John McCain, deploying Sen. Hillary Clinton to Florida on Monday and bolstering his plan to fan out female surrogates to battleground states to include Governors Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas.
Advisers to Mrs. Clinton said that she stood ready to help the Obama-Biden ticket, but they urged the campaign not to overestimate the impact Mrs. Clinton could have, noting that she had other commitments this fall, like campaigning and raising money for Senate candidates.
It should be noted that Obama is at Clinton’s mercy on this. He is, in effect, allowing her to become a kingmaker if she decides to tow the party line to counter the Palinmania that has swept the nation over the last few days. I repeat: Barack Obama is at the mercy of Hillary Clinton now.
Two scenarios leap immediately to mind: McCain wins and finishes off Obama’s presidential ambitions, clearing the way for her in 2012, or else Obama wins with Hillary’s stature by helping keep the female demographic in the fold.
The second strategy is dangerous. If she hits the trail in earnest and McCain wins anyway, it’ll be taken as evidence that her moment with women has passed. And was it not just last Friday when McCain his pick of Sarah Palin to be his running mate that everyone on the left was incensed that he would play identity politics with women’s votes? Let me help you remember: YES IT WAS!
So here we are. Obama is set to roll out an army of women to counteract Palin. The New York Times planned to run the story with this headline: "Obama to Dispatch Female Surrogates" but changed it last night to make it sound less cynical and damaging to Obama. The headline now reads “Obama Camp Turns to Clinton to Counter Palin”.
Blogger Ann Althouse caught them in the act. Click on the link and read her interesting article on the subject.

Only one comment on your article: Obama can roll out as many women as he wants to try to counter the Sarah Palin effect. It will be to no avail. They are NOT Sarah Palin. Let them denegrate her. There will be a backlash. Let them try to counter her. They will appear ineffective and weak. We have the real deal. Great article and thanks. Rickster
Rickster,
I appreciate your comment and could not agree more with your point.
Thanks for taking the time to post a comment.
Take care out there!
It's now embarrassing to see how Barack Obama, or whatever his real name is, behaves.
He does not understand that he continues to show how weak he is, how insecure he is, how truly ignorant he is of the game in which he finds himself, how unfit he is to lead, how inept he is.
He's desperate because he knows that America knows that he's already lost -- happened last Friday when McCain announced Palin -- and that that public emasculation of him Wednesday night by Sarah Palin only confirmed his present disfavor.
And thumping that's coming Election Day.
CKA,
Once again, you've hit the nail on the head!
Obama is paranoid and delusional and dangerously unprepared to lead this nation.
I hope that Americans, when they go to the polls, will treat their vote with respect and consider their country first and not vote along party lines.
Sarah's ginsu knife has only begun to flay "The One". I'm enjoying her courage and pluckiness.
Thanks for stopping by. It's always a pleasure to read your comments.
Take care out there.
